Early and intense heat waves in Spain and Maghreb !
The latest FROGCAST forecast confirms the historic temperatures that the Iberian Peninsula will experience this week in connection with an extremely hot air mass for the season coming up from the Maghreb.

Record temperatures are expected over the area between Wednesday and Friday with highs flirting with 40°C, more than 15°C above the seasonal norm. The Spanish (36.8°C in Córdoba in April 1994) and European (37.4°C in Heraklion in April 2008) monthly temperature records could fall.
These extreme temperatures are added to an early drought after a particularly dry and mild winter. 60% of Spanish cereal crops are already impacted by this drought, or 3.5 million hectares already lost. Some geographical areas could even experience a “zero production”. Le Monde
